As part of efforts to enhance awareness of its mandate and as a pre-establishment activity for sensitizing traditional leaders, the Western North Regional Office team led by the Regional Stool Lands Officer, Tom Wilberforce Archer, Isaac Akowuah the Regional Accountant and Samuel Essiamah, joined the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Municipal Staff on a working visit to the Chirano Traditional Council.

CLS Concept

The visit was to formally introduce the concept of the Customary Land Secretariat (CLS) to the traditional leaders and as well encourage them to establish one in line with Section 14(1) of the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036). The team used the opportunity to sensitize the Traditional Council on the operations and challenges of the Office and further, discussed possible ways to increase revenue mobilization within their jurisdiction.

The interactive session and introduction

During the engagement, the Regional team thoroughly addressed many questions which were raised by the Traditional Leaders to their satisfaction. The Regional Stool Lands Officer, Mr. Tom Wilberforce Archer, provided Nananom with the opportunity to express their concerns regarding the mandate of the Office and the CLS concept. He formally introduced himself as the substantive Regional Stool Lands Officer for the Western North Region and pledged to continuously engage with Nananom as custom demands. Additionally, he promised to harness every revenue potential within their traditional enclave to enhance mobilization for the benefit of all stool land revenue beneficiaries.
