The Office of the Administrator of Stool Lands held its 27th Mid-Year Performance Review Conference in Goaso, Ahafo Region, under the theme “Effective Mobilization of Stool Lands Revenue through Digitalization of Revenue Collection.” The Conference aimed to assess the first half of 2024, identify shortfalls, devise improvement strategies, and review objectives and targets for the year. Additionally, it provided a platform to share insights on operational issues to help the Office achieve its set targets.

Purpose 

Key discussions during the conference included the strategic plan of the Office, the 2024 Human Resource training plan, public education initiatives, yearly targets, audit matters, and aspects of the drafted OASL Act. Participants engaged in fruitful deliberations to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Office’s operations.

Innovation & Advancement in Technology

In her address, the Administrator of Stool Lands, Mrs. Maame Ama Edumadze Acquah said, “our revenue mobilization for the year-to-date reflects our commitment to innovation and advancement in technology and digitalization to maximize productivity. Management believes that, through this, we can foster new ideas and drive progress in the areas of revenue mobilization and land Administration as a whole. As such, Management would continue to urge all to continue progressively making strides even in our baby steps in our efforts as it has come to be a permanent part of our operations”.

Excursion to Golden Team Mining Site

Additionally, the Ahafo Regional team organized an enlightening excursion to the Golden Team Mining site, providing officers with a unique opportunity to witness the intricate processes involved in gold mining and refining. This excursion was a highlight of the conference, aiming to broaden the participants’ understanding of the mining industry and its significance to the region.

During the visit, officers were taken through the entire journey of gold extraction, from the initial mining operations deep underground to the final refining stages that produce pure gold. The tour began with an exploration of the underground mining operations, where participants observed the complex techniques and machinery used to extract gold ore from the earth. Participants  learned about the safety measures and technologies in place to ensure the miners’ safety and efficiency.

Crushing to Extraction to Pure Gold

Following the underground tour, the officers were guided through the refining process. Experts from Golden Team Mining demonstrated how the raw ore is processed to separate gold from other minerals and impurities. The participants observed the use of various methods, including crushing, milling, and chemical treatments, to extract and purify the gold. The intricate steps involved in smelting and molding the refined gold into bars were also showcased, highlighting the precision and expertise required at each stage.

The excursion provided the officers with a comprehensive understanding of the gold production process, emphasizing the labor-intensive and technologically advanced methods employed in modern mining. It also underscored the economic importance of gold mining to the Ahafo Region and the broader national economy.

This firsthand experience at the Golden Team Mining site was an invaluable addition to the conference, enriching the officers’ knowledge and appreciation of the mining sector’s role in revenue generation and regional development. The Ahafo Regional team’s organization of this excursion exemplified their commitment to providing a well-rounded and educational experience for all conference participants.
