As part of efforts towards enhancing public awareness and improving revenue mobilization, the Greater Accra Regional Office launched a public education exercise in the Afienya District. The exercise also coincides with the establishment of a new District office in Afienya. The District Office is strategically positioned to promote local revenue collection and stool land administration in the area.

Sustainable Development

The sensitization exercise was aimed to inform community members about the presence of the newly established office and the critical role that paying ground rent plays in the sustainable development of the community and the benefits that their contributions provide for local and the Ghanaian economy as a whole.

Stakeholders

The exercise was led by Mr. Hope Agozie, District Officer and Mrs. Tracy Pat Awuittor, Assistant District Officer, alongside Officers from the Greater Accra Regional Office. Over the course of the initiative, they engaged directly with some residents, community leaders and other stakeholders while emphasizing on the mandate in revenue mobilization and operations as defined by the Land Act, 2020 (Act 1036).

The team further, emphasized on the need for stakeholders to timely and consistent pay their ground rent to help contribute to community development through the disbursement of revenue as stipulated by law. Such revenues become the backbone for funding critical development projects, supporting district assemblies, and empowering traditional authorities.

Fair Disbursement

In their meeting with stakeholders, Mr. Agozie said, the Office was established to oversee stool land revenue, ensures that funds generated are fairly disbursed among beneficiaries, including metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies, traditional authorities and stools. By expanding and announcing their presence in Afienya, the Office aims to make the services more accessible to the community and encouraging compliance with statutory land rent obligations.
