The Western North Regional management team embarked on a stakeholder engagement with the Chiefs and Elders of the Amamo Stool at the royal palace of the Chief of Amamo in the Western North Region. The meeting came on the heels of meagre revenue collections from the Amamo catchment enclave largely attributable to or less or no support extended to the revenue collectors of the office by the ‘odikros’ or “caretaker chiefs” of the area. Again, the meeting aimed at sensitizing Nananom to the operations of the office as well as identifying operational challenges confronting the office and discussed more possible ways of increasing revenue generation in their enclave amongst others.

Dignitaries
The sensitization meeting attracted participants such as Nana Asante Agyemang (Chief of Amamo Stool and a prominent member of the Gyaase division of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council), sub-Chiefs representing the various divisional heads of the Amamo Stool as well as ‘odikros’ or caretaker chiefs of Canaan or Keteboy, Mireku and Gyatokrom communities.
Also in attendance were the Regional Stool Lands Officer, Surv. ir. Tom Wilberforce Archer, Surv. Samuel Essiamah – Deputy Regional Stool Lands Officer, Mr. Isaac Salifu – Sefwi Wiawso District Officer and Mr. Oliver Ntaadu – Akontombra District Officer.

Surv.ir. Archer gave an exposition of the office of the Administrator of Stool Lands in respect of the legal basis of the office, the types and categories of revenue collected by the office, the disbursement formula for disbursing revenues and impacts of the office in relation to developmental projects funded by the revenues collected. He further, emphasized on collaborative strategies to exist between the office and caretaker chiefs, he advised the caretaker chiefs to forward list of all farmers in their communities to the office.

Lots of questions asked by the ‘odikros’ were thoroughly answered to their satisfaction.
